Sixmile Water

Out and Back

Paddle up the river to the first bridge. It's quite short but the amount of wildlife on that stretch is amazing. There are Kingfishers that let you get very close because they are used to people. The otters are the same. Herons and cormorants are also on this bit of the river. You can get out and have a coffee in the cafe at the castle gardens too.

Minnowburn to Edenderry

Out and Back

A nice quiet paddle from Minnowburn to Edenderry village. You can park at Shaw's Bridge or Minnowburn. Head upstream as far as Edenderry village, here you will reach Eel Weir and the water level is too low to continue.

Lock Keeper's Inn to Stranmillis Weir

Out and Back

A very pleasant paddle down the Lagan River from the the Lock Keeper's Inn to the Stranmillis Weir and back. Lots of small fish, ducks and beautiful trees. You can park at Instonians Hockey Club, from there it is a short portage to the put in point which is just under the pedestrian bridge. From the car park you enter the Lagan Meadows, there is a small bridge and in front of you is Lock Keeper's Inn, to your right is a barge. Follow the towpath to the right and you will quickly see a large wooden bridge crossing the river. The put in point is below it and there is a short path to follow to the water's edge.
